Navigating WrestlingIQ (for Parents)

WrestlingIQ is the hub for everything your wrestler does at the Hood River Wrestling Club, registrations, practices, events, rosters, messaging, and more.
Once you get the hang of it, it’s your one-stop app and website that replaces a dozen fragmented systems. This guide shows you how to use it confidently as a parent.

You can also view WrestlingIQ’s official parent help articles here: Help For Parents – WrestlingIQ.

One especially helpful article is Getting Started with WrestlingIQ as a Parent.

What Your Parent Account Lets You Do

With a parent account on WrestlingIQ, you can:

• View the team’s calendar and practice schedule.

• Receive club announcements, changes, and reminders via messages or push/email.

• See and respond to event rosters and RSVPs when your wrestler is eligible.

• Access documents, videos, and resources shared by coaches.

• Use features like video upload and match stats (if enabled by the club) from the app.

Coaches retain control of core settings, but the parent account gives you transparency into what’s happening behind the scenes.

Getting Started: Setup & Account Basics

1. Invite guardians / other parent accounts
You can invite other parent(s) or guardians so they also have access.

2. Download the mobile app
WrestlingIQ is available for iOS and Android. Once installed, log in with your parent account.

3. Notification settings
By default, new parent accounts are set to receive email notifications. You can log into the web or app to toggle push notifications or SMS (if available) to match your preference.

4. Sync the team calendar
You can often link the club’s calendar to your personal calendar (Google, Apple, etc.), so events show up alongside your other commitments.

Using Rosters & Event RSVPs

We’ll be using WrestlingIQ’s **Rosters** feature to manage which wrestlers are eligible for each event. Rosters help the club know who plans to attend and whether logistics or capacity apply.

How it works:

• Your wrestler may appear on one or more rosters for events. You’ll see those in the event details.

• You’ll be able to respond (Yes / No) for events your wrestler is eligible for.

If your wrestler is NOT listed: Please contact us. It may be an error, or there may be event-specific eligibility rules.

Rosters simplify registration and give coaches visibility into how many athletes plan to attend.

Messaging & Announcements

Messages from coaches may include last-minute changes, reminders, or announcements. To use it effectively:

• Open WrestlingIQ and go to your Messages tab to read announcements.

• Messages are typically targeted to specific rosters, not always to all parents, so you receive only what applies to your wrestler.

• Avoid sending long messages in the app. Coaches prefer short, clear announcements.

Videos & Match Stats

Parents and wrestlers can record and upload match videos using the iOS app.

How to do it: In the app, open the Video tab, select your wrestler, create or choose the event, and start recording.

Uploads may require a stable WiFi connection. Coaches and athletes can access videos later for review and feedback.

Troubleshooting & Help

If something isn’t working or you’re confused:

• Use the WrestlingIQ Help Center under “Help For Parents.”

• Look for articles like “Getting Started with WrestlingIQ as a Parent” (which explains account setup, notifications, etc.).

• Contact the club or coach. Sometimes account issues (like not being on a roster or mislinked email) require a manual fix.

• Check app updates or re-login if certain tabs (video, messages) aren’t visible — some features are toggled per team.

Best Tips for Parents Using WrestlingIQ

Stay in the loop: Check the calendar daily, especially close to event dates.

Don’t rely on memory: Always refer to the app for time, location, and event details.

Toggle your notifications wisely: If you receive too many alerts, adjust your settings so you only get what matters most.

Reach out early: If events don’t show up or your wrestler isn’t on a roster, let us know, we’ll correct it.

Final Thoughts

WrestlingIQ is powerful, but it’s only as useful as the people using it. As a parent, your best approach is to stay curious, lean into the calendar, and ask for help when something doesn’t look right.

Once you get comfortable with WrestlingIQ, it becomes your trusted tool, keeping you informed, organized, and connected to your wrestler’s development.
We’ll always be available to help you with setup, permissions, or features — just ask.

See you on the app — and on the mat!
